We tend to spend a lot of time in Buffalo because most of Daryle’s family is there. Whether we’re visiting in the glorious low-humidity summer or the snowy winter, there’s one drink that remains constant. And you guessed it, Labatt Blue. Or, if you are a local, you just call it Blue. It’s a lager with a crisp and clean taste that actually has some depth. Daryle and I just can’t get enough! We literally buy cases to bring back to DC! So I’m psyched to see the Buffalo-based design crew at Queen City Studio were given the task of creating Blue Light t-shirts for the independently owned Canadian beer (US headquarters are based in Buffalo). Instead of just slapping a logo in the middle of a blue t-shirt, Queen City Studio came up with a stylish re-design that fans of the beer would actually want to go out in public wearing, rather than only mowing the lawn in it. Nice work guys!
After Canandaigua, we traveled west to see visit Daryle’s family and friends in Buffalo. Everyone seemed to have had company staying with them the weekend we were in town so we called up the Saturn Club, the beautiful social club we were married at nearly two years ago to see if they could accommodate us in one of their guest rooms. Luckily, they were glad to have us! Before you scroll down, a brief explanation: at before our wedding ceremony, the photographer and I went exploring through all of the rooms and shot a photo in this room, which I just love. So Daryle and I recreated it with the Jack!
We visited Uncle Doug — Daryle’s best friend (and best man at the wedding)…
…He and wife, Christy happen to have a pool at their downtown Buffalo house!
So of course we stuck around for some beers and sunbathing. It was especially fun because all of Daryle’s best friends from high school came over with their families. I love this photo. Here’s Mark with his shades on and his two girly daughters in pink. So precious.
All the guys, reunited. The topic of conversation: Music.
And then we got to see Grandma Judy again for dinner. Jack is learning to play the bongos.
Love this! The Maciocha guys: Uncle Tom, Grandpa, Daryle and baby Jack.
Do you have a three-day weekend? Today, Daryle and I are driving back up to Buffalo for his best friend’s (and best man in our wedding) wedding. All of the leaves are still green in DC so it will be fun to watch the leaves change as we drive farther north. I’m really excited to get out-of-town for a few days and return to the place we got married. This evening, Daryle will be at the groom’s bachelor party, so I will be hitting the town with Beth, Daryle’s cousin and her friends! Amidst the festivities, I hope to visit Coo Coo U, our favorite mid-century shop in Buffalo. If I find anything, I will be sure to report back. Enjoy the weekend!
